Q: Where are Ocean Mats made?
A: Recycled Ocean Mats are designed and made in the UK in a facility which uses renewable energy and has a zero to landfill policy.
Q: What are Ocean Mats made from?
A: The recycled Ocean Mat doormat range is made from recycled materials. Some are made from ECONYL ® regenerated nylon made from waste such as fishing nets from the fish farming industry and other waste which would normally be sent to landfill. Some are made from 100% recycled PET which is recycled from plastic bottles recovered from waterways, seas and otherwise destined for landfill. The backing is 65% recycled content. There is a 100% recycled backing product in the market. However, these disintegrate after a few washes, resulting in not only needing a new mat but a new washing machine also!
Q: Why are they called Ocean Mats?
A: We branded our recycled doormat ‘Ocean Mats’ to help grow awareness of plastic pollution in our oceans and sea’s.
We donate a percentage of our sales to Healthy Seas, an international organisation to clean the oceans and seas of marine litter saving the needless death of marine animals. To learn more about the amazing work they do, please visit: Healthy Seas
Q: How much is shipping?
A: We offer free shipping within the UK mainland on orders over £75. For orders under this within the UK our standard UK shipping cost is £4.95 per order.
Q: Do you ship outside the UK?
A: Yes, we are able to ship to certain countries within Europe. Unfortunately we currently do not ship to USA. Please visit out shipping page for further info.
Q: Can you leave your products outside?
A: Ocean Mats are designed to trap wet and dirt, as such they should be used inside and their low-profile makes them perfect to fit under doors. If you are looking for an outdoor mat, our handmade rope and coir doormats are great for scraping dirt and mud from shoes and boots.
Q: How do I wash my Ocean Mat?
A: We recommend washing at 30°C. You don’t need to add fabric conditioner as it coats the dirt-trapping fibres of the mat and stops the mat from absorbing wet. Your mat will dry quickly on a line or airer. Make sure the mat is dry before replacing on your floor.
Q: How thick are Ocean Mats?
A: The total height of the mat is 7mm.
Q: What sizes are Ocean Mats?
A: Ocean Mats come in two sizes- 64 x 83cms (Doormat) and 64 x124cms (Runner). All sizes are approx and tolerances of up to +/- 3% can occur. Do bear in mind that Ocean Mats are made from a washable textile and hand-cut.
Q: How heavy are Ocean Mats?
A: Ocean Mat doormats weigh approx 1.3kgs and Ocean Mat runners weigh 2.1kgs.
Q: What floor surfaces can I use Ocean Mats on?
A: Ocean Mats are designed for use on a wide range of hard and carpeted floor surfaces. The studded backing provides an anti-slip base on wood, ceramic and vinyl floors and helps the mat on stay in place on carpeted area's. We advise checking with your flooring manufacturer when using on LVT flooring as certain floor colours may be affected by covering with a rubber backed mat.
To prevent a 'picture frame' effect your mat should be lifted and laundered frequently.
Q: Will my mat fade?
A: Ocean Mats doormats have been designed to be long-lasting have been developed from a hard-wearing recycled yarn which is also used in commercial settings. However, like many printed textiles, if placed in very sunny areas for a long period of time, some colour fade may occur.
Q. How can I recycle my delivery packaging?
A: We use 100% recyclable mailing bags made from sustainable sugar cane. Our mailing bags carry a '4' category recycle code and may be recycled with your kerbside collections or at major supermarkets. Recycling can vary county to county, so please check with your local authority for specific recycling information or visit Recycle Now.
Q: How do I clean my 'Cotswold Rope' doormat?
A: To clean your rope doormat, we recommend using a stiff brush to remove dirt and hose down. Rope mats should be placed on an outside, non-slip surface.
