Detail from a Jali screen. Jali or jaali(jālī, meaning "net") is the term used to describe perforated or latticed material, usually stone, with an ornamental pattern of calligraphy, geometry or natural motifs. Often found in architectural decoration, Jali is common in Indo-Islamic and Indian architecture. The Ashmolean's Mughal screens feature central panels with interlocking geometric patterns, possibly made for one of the nineteenth century exhibitions of Indian art.

All our recycled Ocean Mats are machine washable at 30 degrees and are made from recycled materials diverted from landfill.

Soft and mid-green. Also available in grey.

Green jali screen mat

Have to say I’m very pleased with how the mat looks down in my (tiny) porch! It’s really nice without being overly ‘too much’. There were several designs I liked on your website, but just ended up feeling a more subdued and sophisticated mat would do the trick and as I have new carpets down, wanted the promised absorbency and washable traits! As well as the fact it’s been made from marine plastics, so is helping be environmentally friendly!
Total win, win!
